jeffrumm asked: I'm developing a custom theme for webcomic, and I'd like to use webcomic 3.0. Can I get a download link to the pre-release plugin?

It’s great to hear you’re building a custom theme with Webcomic! There isn’t a pre-release link to share at the moment, unfortunately. Webcomic 3 will be available on the WordPress plugin directory in a couple of days, but if you really can’t wait get me some contact info and I can send it to you directly.

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet,
Chalk white and oh so frail,
I see our time has gotten’ stale.

The tick-tock of the clock is painful,
All sane and logical,
I want to tear it off the wall.

I hear words and clips and phrases,
I think sick like ginger ale,
My stomach turns and I exhale…

I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside. I would swallow my doubt, turn it inside out, find nothing but faith in nothing. I wanna’ put my tender heart in a blender, watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion.

Rendezvous then I’m through with you.

One More Thing

My comments are getting screened on frumph.net (wonder why?), so I thought I’d respond to this one comment and then let it go, because my sides are hurting from laughter. XD

I respect your decision on what you choose, it’s my firm belief to go with what you feel is best for you as well.

It’s funny how often this is repeated, considering he’s never once offered any alternatives besides ComicPress. He doesn’t have to, of course; he’s part of the CP team and pushing CP is obviously important to them (nothing wrong with that, honestly), but if he really believed in choosing what’s best it might be nice for him to know what’s actually out there and point users to alternatives so they can make their own decisions.

Unfortunately with the attacks we’ve been getting from WebComic + Inkblot fanatics. I put together a set of their references that they claim is their reasoning behind sticking behind their CMS of choice and belittling the alternatives. One of their references is “Features” As I have shown, W+I does not have the features a WebComic author could use to produce an outstanding presence on the web. A good presence, sure. Another reference is ‘bloated’. As you can see with a proper hosting W+I does not know how to manage its memory space (per page load, i.e not complete run time). Further along is the designing of your site. W+I is very limited with the CSS and areas you have available to skin, while both systems utilize the same function based area a user of ComicPress will be able to skin his site better then that of W+I, I have shown in the post that not only does W+I utilize the same structure as W+I for designing that we go further and allow even more control.

I have no idea what “Webcomic & Inkblot fanatics” have been attacking ComicPress. I’m guessing he thinks the whole “Premium” fiasco was some grand plot devised by me and perpetrated by my brainless minions. The rest of this was addressed in my previous response, which I tried to post a link to in a comment on Frumph’s post (it was screened).

Whether this is a push or not is your choice to interpret, I’m answering those users who are addressing those particular points as their reasoning.

If the post sounds obtrusive in anyway it’s nothing less then Mike would do. “Despite it’s shortcomings” http://groups.google.com/group/webcomic-discuss/browse_thread/thread/d8b8d36d43c0de56#

Once again: my dislike of ComicPress (the software) is well known; I’ve never tried to hide it. What I haven’t done is insult the CP dev team directly (except for the one insult leveled at Frumph in response to his own insult directed at me, mentioned in my previous post; dizzy yet?) or belittle ComicPress users for choosing CP.

Mike has consistently belittled ComicPress and anyone who uses it with the ‘ours’ is better mentality. If I’m not allowed to talk like that, then he shouldn’t either, since any incites that have occurred have stemmed from his behavior to begin with.

I wold absolutely love it if Frumph could show some examples of me belittling ComicPress users. Yes, I do think Webcomic is better than ComicPress. Does that mean it’s right for everyone? No. Why would I even care if someone chose ComicPress over not only Webcomic, but stripShow, manga+press, WP-Comic, or any of the other alternatives out there? This is a hobby for me. I’m not making a living off of it. It’s all for fun.

I have stayed silent, turning the other cheek sort of speaking since the beginning, however as his animosity grows, his user base gets further involved in it; it’s just not proper behavior for anyone to keep.

What animosity? XD It’s like bizarro world. I don’t have animosity towards ComicPress or the CP dev team; I think ComicPress is a poor choice for publishing a webcomic. I also encourage users to try all of the available options, ComicPress included, to judge for themselves. Just to drive that point home here’s a list of webcomic publishing alternatives, again (not including Webcomic and ComicPress, which I’m sure you’re very familiar with if you’re reading this):

Alright, I’m done. This whole thing is just too absurd. Stay classy Frumph! XD

Edit: Last thing, honest. XD Liliy of The Adventures of Wiglaf & Mordred wanted me to mention that she, too, has had her comments screened on this particular frumph.net post. Here’s her comment, verbatim:

(I do so feel like a bit of fun today~ For the sake of humor and light spirits in this wonderful mud slinging battle that has begun. Love ‘ya Frumph! :D )

I do believe he missed the point of it all~ *foosh! straight to the catcher went the pitch!

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” - Albert Camus

Freedom from the oppressive and confusing CP menu that takes an eternity to read! Freedom! FREEDOM!

Let the revolution begin.

And just for completeness, here’s mine (including the typo that burns me):

Thanks for doing this comparison Phil! My respons was a little long so I figured I’d post it on my own site. ;)
